From persevering through Argentina's economic crises to coaching a generation of founders worldwide

Back in 2003, nobody had heard of Guibert Englebienne, Martin Migoya, Martin Umaran, and Nestor Nocetti when they launched Globant with the hopes of bringing a Silicon Valley mindset to Argentina. They wanted to use the power of consulting to bring technologies and new ways of thinking to companies.

When they started, Argentina was in the midst of the worst economic crisis in its history, now called “the Argentine great depression.” With just $5,000, Globant was still able to become the first IT outsider to develop software for Google.

In 2004 Globant’s four founders were named Endeavor Entrepreneurs. By 2014, Globant became the first Latin American tech company to go public on the NYSE. Today, the company employs more than 27,000 people across four continents and is a unicorn worth more than $7 billion. Still, despite their global success, the Globant team chose to stay put in their home country—a risky decision that has paid off.

Their Multiplier Effect

Guibert and his co-founders have had the largest multiplier effect of any team in the Endeavor community. More than 430 former Globant employees have launched their own businesses and the group has mentored more than 200 other founders, playing a helpful role in pushing Argentina out of its economic slump.

Globant doesn’t just give back by mentoring future founders; it invests in today's workforce. In partnership with Laboratoria, the team is training Latin American women to enter the IT sphere. Globant’s executive leadership program also develops competencies in MBA graduates. Its “Be Kind Fund” is also changing the world by helping new businesses to curb online harassment and improve data privacy.

“Endeavor helped me discover that besides being an entrepreneur, I have a role to play, mentoring others to do what I have been able to do,” says Guibert. When he’s not elbow-deep in Globant’s business, he flies around the world mentoring scale-up founders and supports Endeavor Argentina as Chairman.
